How to Find a Dentist Who Will Accept Specific Insurance

Dental insurance offsets the high cost of dental treatment and allows you to have preventative care and to deal with problems promptly. Insurance is useless if your dentist doesn't accept your particular plan, so you should know the steps to find a nyc dentist who accepts specific insurance.

Instructions :

1.- Obtain a list of dental providers directly from your insurance company. This may be in written form, or it may be available online. Many insurance companies will allow you to put in your address on their website and produce a list of dentists within your geographic area.

2.- Use a free referral service like 1-800-Dentist or FindaDentist.com. While an insurance company list gives general information, a referral service will ask specific questions to help you find a compatible professional who accepts your insurance plan.

3.- Ask for referrals from your co-workers. If your dental insurance is provided through your employer, it's likely that your co-workers are visiting dentists who accept the plan. They will also be able to share their personal experiences to help you choose a nyc dentist who is compatible in other ways, such as treatment style.

4.- Search through a professional organization such as the American Dental Association. While the ADA's database doesn't indicate which type of insurance its member dentist accepts, it will give you the information you need to contact them directly.

5.- Ask your current dentist. Perhaps you have a dentist you like, but your employer has switched insurance plans, forcing you to switch. Most dentists are understanding of these circumstances and will be happy to recommend a fellow professional who accepts your insurance plan.
